Celeron

Brand name of a type of Intel Pentium processor designed for use in lower cost personal computers. When launched in 1998, Celeron chips were not well received, as their lack of cache memory made them relatively slow. Intel soon added on-chip cache memory which enabled them to perform as well as standard Pentium chips. The equivalent Intel product designed for use in servers and workstations is the Xeon.
