International Falls| City and seat of Koochiching County, in the far north of Minnesota; population (1990) 8,300. International Falls is a port of entry to the USA, lying on the Rainy River opposite Fort Frances, Ontario. The French established the trading post of St Pierre here in 1731, and the town was settled 150 years later. |
| International Falls is situated in a farming and lumbering region, and is home to a major paper industry. As the gateway to Voyageurs National Park, it is also an important centre for summer tourism. |
