intransitive verb

Verb that has no object, for example ‘she laughed’. A verb that is followed by an object is a transitive verb. Some verbs can be either transitive (‘it hailed frogs’) or intransitive (‘it hailed’).

The structural relationship between the heads and obligatory complements of linking and intransitive verbs is exactly the same as that which holds between transitive verbs and direct objects, as shown in (20) and (21).
Similarly, I have not considered a number of important points to be studied when dealing with the Passive, for instance, passivity with "get", (or passive sentences derived from active sentences with intransitive verbs, etc).
