Inverlochy

Inverlochy

Village in Highland unitary authority, west Scotland, situated on the River Lochy, 3 km/2 mi northeast of Fort William. Originally a garrison town in the 1650s, it subsequently housed employees of a nearby aluminium-smelting works.

In 1645 Inverlochy Castle, now a neglected ruin, saw the defeat of parliamentary forces under Argyll by the Royalist Montrose.
