Opera in three acts by Frederick Delius (libretto by the composer), composed 1890–92 and first produced in Oxford, England, on 4 May 1953, conducted by Thomas Beecham. In the story, the much courted Irmelin is rescued from her suitors by Nils, a prince brought up as a swineherd.
