| Marine biologist Piya, of Indian descent but American and without knowledge of any Indian language, arrives to study a shrinking population of Irrawaddy, or river dolphins. The last few times that I've been there, I've seen maybe two Gangetic dolphins; I haven't seen any Orcaellae or Irrawaddy dolphins. The image was brought from the Mandalay region, where it was quarried, down the Irrawaddy River to its present resting site. |
