Islandmagee

Peninsula on the coast of Antrim, Northern Ireland, near Larne; area 11 km/7 mi by 3 km/2 mi. There are large basalt cliffs on the east side, a section of which is known as the Gobbins.

There is a dolmen (Neolithic stone chamber) known as the Druid's Chair, at which a number of ornaments and funeral urns have been found.

In 1642 the inhabitants of Islandmagee were killed by forces from Carrickfergus, some reputedly by being thrown off the cliffs. Slaughterford Bridge commemorates this event.
