Procida

Island at the northwest end of the Bay of Naples, in Campania region, southern Italy; population (1991) 10,600. Over 3 km/2 mi from the mainland, the island is of volcanic origin and consists of two craters. Products include vines and fruit, and there is a fishing industry in the town of Procida, on the northeast coast.
