Isle of Wight County

Administrative district of southeastern Virginia; area 826 sq km/319 sq mi, population (1990) 25,100. Its seat is at the settlement of Isle of Wight. Located in the Tidewater region, south of the James River, the county is known for its Smithfield hams; other produce from here includes peanuts and corn.
