Isoetes

One of two genera in the family Isoetaceae, in the division Lycopsida (the other genus is Stylites). It consists of about 75 species of aquatic or semi-aquatic plants resembling grass, found in temperate and tropical regions worldwide except the Pacific islands. Identification of individual species can be difficult, since it usually involves examination of the spores with a microscope.
