Ivanov, Mikhail Mikhailovich (1849–1927)

Russian composer and critic. He studied with Tchaikovsky and others at the Moscow Conservatory, lived mainly in Rome 1870–76, and then became music critic to the Novoie Vremya.

Works

operas Potemkin's Feast (1902), Zabava Putiatishna (1899), The Proud Woman, and Woe to the Wise; ballet The Vestal Virgin (1888); requiem; symphony, symphonic prologue Savonarola, Suite champêtre for orchestra; piano pieces, songs.
