Ivogün, Maria (1891–1987)

Hungarian soprano. She studied in Munich and made her debut there in 1913, as Mimi. In 1917 she created the role of Ighino in Pfitzner's Palestrina. She appeared at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, from 1924 to 1927 as Zerbinetta (in Ariadne auf Naxos), Gilda (in Rigoletto), and Constanze. She left Munich in 1925 and sang in Berlin until 1934. Other roles included Queen of Night (from Die Zauberflöte/The Magic Flute) and Norina (from Don Pasquale). She was married to Karl Erb from 1921 to 1932, and to Michael Raucheisen, her accompanist, from 1933.
