Jörgensen, Jörgen (1779–1845)

Danish sailor who in 1809 seized control of Iceland, announcing it was under the protection of Britain. After long imprisonment, in about 1823 he was transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), where he was pardoned. He wrote a dictionary of Australian Aboriginal dialect.
