The siege of Jülich in the Thirty Years' War.

Town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, 44 km/27 mi southwest of Düsseldorf; population (1994) 31,800. Paper and sugar industries provide the town's main employment. Jülich, the ancient Juliacum, was once the seat of the dukes of Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen). It was a strong fortress town in the 17th century.
