Jürgens, Jürgen (1925-1994)

German conductor. He studied in Frankfurt and directed the Hamburg Monteverdi Choir from 1955. He has toured Europe and the USA with music by Josquin, Gagliano, Ockeghem, and Henze. He was musical director at Hamburg University from 1966, and professor there from 1977. His recordings include Monteverdi's Vespers and Orfeo, Schütz's St Luke Passion and Seven Last Words, and Gagliano's La Dafne.
