Jack Russell terrier

Breed of small, short-legged, smooth-haired terrier, which takes its name from its originator, the English clergyman and fox-hunting enthusiast John Russell (1795–1883). It was recognized by the UK Kennel Club in 1990 as a distinct variant of the fox terrier, which it resembles in having a mainly white coat with brown patches.

In 2001 the American Kennel Club recognized the Jack Russell Terrier Association of America. However, the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America had opposed registration with the American Kennel Club.
