Jackson, Henry M(artin) (1912-1983)

US senator. He served in the US House of Representatives (Democrat, Washington) 1941-53 and in the US Senate 1953-83. Known as the ‘Senator from Boeing’, he was a staunch supporter of the interests of his state's defence industry; he also advocated an anti-Soviet foreign policy. He was an unsuccessful US presidential candidate in 1972 and 1976.

He was born in Everett, Washington.
