Jaffrey

Resort town in Cheshire County, southwestern New Hampshire; population (1990) 5,400. Jaffrey is situated on Contoocook Lake and the Contoocook River, 24 km/15 mi southeast of Keene.

The town of Jaffrey also incorporates Jaffrey Village and East Jaffrey. Mount Monadnock is situated in its northwestern corner. Apart from tourism, the main industries are the manufacture of boxes, wood products, nails, and matches.
