Jahangir (1569–1627)

Third of the emperors of the Mogul dynasty, Jahangir. Jahangir was the son of Akbar who was considered to be the greatest of the Moguls. Jahangir's reign was marred by an addiction to alcohol and opium.

The mausoleum of Asif Khan, brother of the 16th-century Indian emperor Jahangir, who is buried in another part of the same complex. Jahangir's tomb is tiled and marbled, but this lesser tomb has been stripped almost bare by invading forces and flooding from the nearby river.

Fourth Mogul emperor of India (1605–27), succeeding his father Akbar the Great. The first part of his reign was marked by peace, prosperity, and a flowering of the arts, but the latter half by rebellion and succession conflicts.
