James, Jesse Woodson |
0.06 sec. |
James, Jesse Woodson (1847–1882)US bank and train robber. He was a leader, with his brother Frank (1843–1915), of the Quantrill raiders, a Confederate guerrilla band in the Civil War. Jesse was killed by Bob Ford, an accomplice; Frank remained unconvicted and became a farmer. In 1995 a US circuit court judge approved a scientist's proposal to exhume the body buried in James's grave and, using genetic testing, resolve whether or not the outlaw had faked his own death. The test determined that the remains really were those of James. How to thank TFD for its existence?
