James City County

Administrative district of southeastern Virginia; area 385 sq km/153 sq mi, population (1990) 34,900. The county seat is at Williamsburg.

South along the James River, in the Tidewater region, James City County is largely agricultural, and is also home to two of Virginia's major tourist attractions, Williamsburg and Jamestown, the first successful English settlement in North America.
