Janeway, Edward Gamaliel

Janeway, Edward Gamaliel (1841-1911)

US physician whose career revolved around New York City's Bellevue Hospital, first as curator (1866), then as visiting physician (1871), and finally as professor of pathological anatomy and dean of the consolidated New York University and Bellevue Hospital medical colleges 1898-1905. He held publicity-seeking in low regard and made few contributions to medical literature, but he was highly regarded by his peers as a diagnostician.

He was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
