Jannings, Emil (1886-1950)

German actor. In Der Blaue Engel/The Blue Angel (1930) he played a schoolteacher who becomes disastrously infatuated with Marlene Dietrich. His other films include Der Letzte Mann/The Last Laugh (1924), Faust (1926), and The Last Command (1928).

He remained in Germany during the Nazi era and his career was finished off by his involvement with the Nazi regime.
