Nattiez, Jean-Jacques (1945– )

Canadian musicologist. As director of the Groupe de Recherches en Sémiologie Musicale at the University of Montréal from 1974, he is important for developing the use of semiotics in musical analysis, as first expounded in his book Fondements d'une sémiologie musicale 1975.
