City in Westmoreland County, southwestern Pennsylvania, 35 km/22 mi southeast of Pittsburgh; population (1990) 11,200. It is situated in an agricultural and coalmining region rich in natural gas.

Among the many goods manufactured in Jeannette are power generation equipment, turbines and motors, plastics, glass, and lighting fixtures.
