Jebel Shammar

Mountain range in the north of the Nejd region, Saudi Arabia. Jebel Shammar contains two granite ridges running from east to west, one of which is 1,800 m/5,904 ft high. During the Arabian war in 1921 the area (including the town of Hail) was annexed by Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud, the founder of Saudi Arabia.
