Jelenia Góra

Capital of Jelenia Góra province, Poland, on the River Bóbr at the foot of the Karkonosze mountains, 96 km/60 mi west of Wrocław; population (1990) 93,400. Textiles, chemicals, and optical lenses are manufactured. The town dates from the 14th century, passing from Bohemia to Prussia 1741, and to Poland 1945.
