Jellicoe, John Rushworth (1859–1935)

British admiral who commanded the Grand Fleet 1914–16 during World War I; the only action he fought was the inconclusive battle of Jutland. He was First Sea Lord 1916–17, when he failed to push the introduction of the convoy system to combat U-boat attacks. KCVO 1907, Viscount 1918, 1st Earl 1925.
