Jemnitz, Alexander (1890–1963)

Hungarian composer and critic. He studied at the Budapest Conservatory, then with Max Reger in Leipzig and lastly with Arnold Schoenberg in Berlin, Germany, where he also taught. Later he returned to Budapest.

Works

the ballet Divertimento (1947); Prelude and Fugue, seven Miniatures for orchestra (1947); choral music; string quartet, two string trios (1924, 1927), trios for various other instruments, Partita for two violins, three violin and piano sonatas, sonata for viola and cello.
