Jeppesen, Knud (born 1892)

Danish musicologist, composer, and educator. He was a pupil of the Danish composer Carl Nielsen. After taking his musical degree, he studied in Vienna, Austria, obtaining his PhD with a detailed study of Giovanni Palestrina's harmonic system. He held important posts at Copenhagen Conservatory and Copenhagen and Aarhus universities. He also wrote widely on Italian music of the 16th and 17th centuries. His compositions include an opera, a symphony and Te Deum Danicum for chorus and orchestra.
