Jeune Henri, Le

    0.10 sec.

Jeune Henri, Le

Opera by Étienne Méhul (libretto by J N Bouilly, originally intended for André Grétry and called La Jeunesse de Henri IV), first produced at the Opéra-Comique, Paris, France, on 1 May 1797. The overture called La Chasse du jeune Henri was known as a concert piece long after the opera was forgotten. The opera describes the worthy deeds of Henry, who kills a wolf and wins a race, magnanimously giving up his prize.
