Jewett, Frank Baldwin (1879-1949)

US electrical engineer. He played a major role in transcontinental telephone transmission. He founded the Bell Telephone Laboratories in 1925, where he was president 1925-40 and chairman of the board 1940-49.

He was born in Pasadena, California, and he began working for American Telephone & Telegraph Co. as an electrical engineer in 1904.
