Jezreel

Plain in northern Israel, lying between the Sea of Galilee and the River Jordan on the east and the Mediterranean Sea on the west, approximately 58 km/36 mi long with an average width of 20 km/12 mi. It is bounded by Mount Carmel to the northwest, Mount Gilboa to the southeast, and the Galilean Highlands to the north. The River Kishon (Qishon), is its main river. Jezreel is one of Israel's most productive agricultural regions; crops include cotton, wheat, corn, tobacco and millet.

Because of its strategic location many battles were fought on the Plain of Jezreel in ancient times, including an Israelite victory over the Canaanites in the 14th century BC. Megiddo (or Armageddon), the supposed last battlefield of the world, lies on the plain.
