Morrison, Jim (1943–1971)| US rock singer and songwriter. With such hit songs as ‘Light My Fire’ (1967) and ‘Hello, I Love You’ (1968), his rock band, The Doors, was one of the most popular bands of the 1960s. |
| Born in Melbourne, Florida, he wrote poetry and studied film at the University of California: Los Angeles where he met keyboard player Ray Manzerek with whom he formed The Doors, in 1965. A controversial figure who had been arrested on obscenity charges during a live performance, Morrison died of a heart attack in Paris in 1971. |
