Johannsson, Kristjan (1950– )

Icelandic tenor. He studied with Tagliavini and made his debut at Reykjavik in 1981, as Rodolfo. He also sang Pinkerton at Spoleto (1983) and Faust at the Chicago Lyric Opera (1991). He has appeared at the New York Metropolitan Opera House, the Vienna Staatsoper, and at La Scala, Milan, as Radames, Cavaradossi, and Dick Johnson. He appeared as Calaf and Turiddu at the Verona Arena (1991–93) and as Manrico at Genoa (1991). He sang Verdi's Renato at the Munich Staatsoper in 1994, and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, in 1995.
