Burke, John (1787-1848)

First publisher, in 1826, of Burke's Peerage.

Burke, John (1859-1937)

US Democratic governor, federal official, and judge. He served in the North Dakota state senate 1893-95, was the governor of North Dakota 1907-12, and treasurer of the USA 1913-21. He served on the North Dakota Supreme Court 1925-37.

He was born in Keokuk County, Iowa, and moved to the Dakota Territory in 1888. North Dakota has placed his statue in the US Capitol.
