Pope, 523-26. He was sent to Constantinople by Theodoric, king of the Ostrogoths, to obtain toleration for the Arians from the Byzantine emperor, but on his return was imprisoned by the king who was dissatisfied with the mission. He died in captivity in Ravenna, Italy. He was a native of Tuscany, Italy.
