John of Lancaster (1389-1435)

English prince, third son of Henry IV. He was regent of France (1422-31) during the minority of Henry VI, his nephew, and protector of England (1422-35). He mostly left English affairs to his brother, Humphrey, duke of Gloucester. He allowed Joan of Arc to be burnt as a witch in 1431 and had Henry VI crowned king of France in 1431.
