John of Lancaster (1389–1435)

English prince, third son of Henry IV. He was regent of France (1422–31) during the minority of Henry VI, his nephew, and protector of England (1422–35). He mostly left English affairs to his brother, Humphrey, duke of Gloucester. He allowed Joan of Arc to be burnt as a witch in 1431 and had Henry VI crowned king of France in 1431.
