Johnson, Edward Crosley, III (1930- )

US financial executive. He was president and chief executive officer of Fidelity Management & Research 1972-77, after which he became chairman and chief executive of Fidelity's parent, FMR, which he built into one of the nation's largest money management concerns, particularly by aggressive marketing of mutual funds.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, into a prominent Beacon Hill family, he graduated from Harvard in 1954 and joined his father's firm.
