Johnson, John

Johnson, John (c. 1540–1595)

English lutenist and composer. He was attached to Queen Elizabeth I's court and possibly also to the household of Sir Thomas Kitson at Hengrave Hall, Suffolk, and in London 1572–74. He took part in the Earl of Leicester's entertainments at Kenilworth Castle in 1575. He wrote lute solos and duets.
