Johnson, John J (1912- )

US political scientist and historian. He wrote such influential works as Political Change in Latin America (1958), The Military and Society in Latin America (1964), and A Hemisphere Apart (1990), a study of the Latin American policy of the US government.

Born in White Swan, Washington, he taught at Stanford University 1946-77 and the University of New Mexico 1980-85.
