Johnson, Pamela Hansford, Lady Snow (1912–1981)

English novelist. Her works include This Bed Thy Centre 1935, which was judged shocking, Too Dear for My Possessing 1940, The Unspeakable Skipton 1959, based on Frederick Rolfe, and The Honours Board 1970.

Johnson was born in London and worked in a bank before she turned to writing. In 1950 she married the writer and scientist C P Snow.Other novels are An Avenue of Stone 1947, An Impossible Marriage 1954, The Last Resort 1956, The Humbler Creation 1959, An Error of Judgement 1962, and The Bonfire 1981. She also published studies of the novelists Thomas Wolfe 1947 and Ivy Compton-Burnett 1951, and a collection of essays, Important to Me, 1974.
