JoJo (1990– )

US pop artist. She released her self-titled debut album JoJo (2004) at the age of 13, comprising catchy R&B-inspired pop tunes, including the popular summer dance anthem ‘Leave (Get Out)’.

Though she worked with seasoned producers such as Soulshock & Karlin, Vincent Herbert, and Mike City on Jojo, she also wrote three of the tracks herself. Other hit singles include ‘Baby It's You’ and ‘Never Say Goodbye’. She is known for her smooth voice and appealing combination of innocence and attitude.

She was born and grew up in Foxborough, Massachusetts. She first appeared on television after winning an audition for the series Kids Say the Darndest Things (hosted by Bill Cosby). Her rendition of the Aretha Franklin classic ‘Respect’ led to spots on several chat shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show. After appearing on the television talent show America's Most Talented Kids, she was approached by producer Vincent Herbert and eventually signed to Blackground Records.
