Opera by Georges Bizet (libretto by J H V de Saint-Georges and J Adenis, based on Walter Scott's novel), first produced at the Théâtre Lyrique, Paris, France, on 26 December 1867. It tells how Catherine and Smith are united, despite competition from the Duke of Rothsay and a case of mistaken identity.
