Jones, Catesby Ap Roger (1821-1877)

US naval officer. He served in the US navy 1836-61 and the Confederate States navy 1861-65. He commanded the CSS Virginia during the three-hour indecisive contest with the USS Monitor in 1862.

He was born in Fairfield, Virginia.
