Jones, E(rnest) Lester (1876–1929)

US geodesist. He joined the US Coast and Geodetic Survey, where he introduced aerial photography to mapmaking. He served as a lieutenant colonel 1917–19, and founded the American Legion in 1919. He surveyed the Alaska–Canada boundary for the International Boundary Commission in 1921.

He was born in East Orange, New Jersey.
