| Born in Carmarthenshire, Jones became a Unitarian minister. In 1795 he was appointed pastor at Plymouth Dock and subsequently at Halifax in Yorkshire, and in London. |
Jones, John (1728–1796)| English organist and composer. He was appointed organist of the Middle Temple in 1749; in 1753 became organist of Charterhouse, succeeding Johann Pepusch; and was appointed organist of St Paul's Cathedral, London, in 1755. He wrote chants, harpsichord lessons, and other pieces. |
