Jones, John P(ercival) (1830-1912)

Welsh-born US senator and miner. He went to California in the gold rush of 1849, then moved to Nevada where he made his fortune in silver mining. He served in the US Senate (Republican, Nevada) 1873-1903, where he supported silver coinage.

Born in Hay, he was taken to Cleveland, Ohio, as a child.
