Jones, Robert

Jones, Robert (c. 1485–c. 1536)

English composer. He was a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal from 1513. He composed a song, ‘Who Shall Have My Fair Lady’, a Mass, Spes nostra, and a Magnificat.

Jones, Robert (c. 1570–c. 1617)

English lutenist and composer. He worked for several patrons and took a degree in music at Oxford University in 1597. In 1610, with Philip Rosseter and others, he obtained a patent to train children for the Queen's revels, and in 1615 they were allowed to erect a theatre in Blackfriars, London, but its opening was subsequently prohibited.
